FARRINGTON ALUMNI & COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (FACF)
"GOING FORTH TO SERVE...."
28TH ANNUAL LUNCHEON
FEBRUARY 29, 2004 (SUNDAY)
The next FACF Luncheon and Annual Meeting will be held at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the last Sunday in February. Keynote speaker will be FHS Principal, Catherine Payne. Classes honored will be FHS '44 and FHS '54. School logo items from the Gov Shop will be displayed for sale.
Cost is $25.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased through February 20 from the following: (No cancellations or refunds.)

What is FACF, and what does it do? "FACF is an organization that helps maintain, promote and foster the development of Farrington High School. As a foundation, we grant scholarships and other assistance to young students. We encourage and provide funds for innovative school projects; provide funds encouraging student and teacher accomplishments; promote the general welfare of Farrington High School and the Farrington Community and to operate exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes."
FACF Scholarships: In May 2003, FACF awarded scholarships totaling $29,500.00 to 24 graduating seniors.
FACF-Donated Funds for FHS Programs/Projects for 2003-2004 School Year: Donations to date:
- $5,000.00 - FHS band (uniform purchase)
- $3,000.00 - Principal's Discretionary Fund (provide funds for special teacher's requests to FACF for $300 or less that requires principal approval only) To date, the following were approved via this fund:
-- $250.00 - Running Start Calculus students at HCC (subsidize book costs)
-- $229.77 - Pat Nakama's 10th & 11th Grade English students (subsidize supplies for literary booklet)
-- $160.00 - A. Barne's science students (transportation to UH School of Ocean & Earth Science & Technology open house)
- $1,500.00 - Teen Center (refreshments for programs promoting peace and nonviolence on campus)
- $1,400.00 - Varsity Rifle Team (air rifles, sights and repair kits purchase)
- $605.00 - Newswriting Class (registration fees for three-day journalism workshop)
- $500.00 - Math Department Computer Lab (replacement of air conditioner)
