Posted by Lucita Eustaquio Apana It was certainly an honor to be with all of you Anyway I wanted to let you know since then we found out that my daughter who is 31 years old needs a heart transplant. I wanted to attach a letter regarding her condition. I hope that we can spread this message regarding her condition: As many of you may, or may not know my daughter Natalie has been severely ill since giving birth to her third child on August 18th, 2002. Just after the birth she suffered heart failure which resulted in her diagnosis of peri-partum cardiomyopathy. The disease has caused severe heart failure and weakened her heart where she now requires the life-saving miracle of a heart transplant. She is only thirty-one years old. Natalie has been hospitalized for over four months now. She is currently being kept alive by a mechanical heart also known as a VAD (Ventricular Assist Device). She will continue to be hospitalized until she receives her new heart. Funding this procedure is a monumental task which Natalie cannot meet alone. She desperately needs financial help of family, friends and her community to meet this challenge. Her expenses include uninsured medical costs as well as assistance with the care of her children, special needs of services from people outside of the hospital (she currently needs someone to come in and wash her hair as she is unable to do so herself needless to say this is not an insurance covered expense, but necessary to help keep her spirits up and feeling normal). She will also need to relocate near the hospital once she has the heart operation. We are asking you for your help in this difficult time in Natalie and her childrens lives. A fund has been established in her name at the South Valley National Bank. For those who would like to make a donation to this fund please send a check to: Natalie K. Apana-Silva Fund Note in memo section: Natalie K. Apana-Silva Mail to: South Valley National Bank Or: c/o Michelle P.
