Posted by Carol (Hayashi) & Jim Belmont My wife Carol received an e-mail from a 37 year old gal in CA by the name of Val. She was adopted at birth and is now trying to find her birth mother. Her mom was an unwed Hawaii girl who went to Los Angeles to give birth and Val was adopted there. Carol and Val have spoken by phone following the original e-mail. Val's research has turned up a few facts but she's otherwise almost at a dead end. It is believed that Val's birth father was Haole. Two important facts are that her Mother's maiden name was Hayashi and she was born in 1947. She thinks that her Mom had three sisters and was probably from Oahu, but not necessarily. The maternal grandfather is believed to have been an "engineer" but that term was used for lots of different jobs, not always a professional engineer. Carol was contacted by Val because her (Carol's) maiden name was also Hayashi and she too was born in 1947. But she doesn't have three sisters (had only one brother) and Carol was unable to have children. Ironically, Carol also adopted a child who went on a birth mother search in 1990. Small world, eh? None of Carol's Hayashi-side relatives are related to Val. We are unable to pull birth records for any HI County for the year 1947 to try to develop a list of potential Hayashis. We have been able to pull obituaries for a number of years back into the late 90's and have searched them thoroughly looking for relatives that indicate four female children. No luck so far. Anyone have any thoughts, suggestions or ideas how Val might be able to continue her search further and more effectively? Thanks in advance.
