problems with mr vegas

hi
ive just got the part of joe.
im english and i was recoridng my self saying some lines and i cant do the accent very well - ive never had to do latino before and youd be amazed how awkward it is to say "leotard" and "audience" in a yank accent :S
often i sound like a drunken mexican whos lived in britain for the past 10 months!
n e one suggest some techniques to help me perhaps?
