Rob:
We went back to the yard and the owner pulled a tailhousing from another C4 and gave it to me. I haven't cleaned and installed it yet, but it looks identical from the outside.
Thanks for the kind offer, and if this doesn't work out for some reason, I'll get back to you.
Thanks again,
Jim

: There are a couple of other

: I'm sure the yard owner will treat

: Sounds like you may just need the
: rear
: case. Those are usually easy to
: find laying around at a transmission
: shop. I have a 66 c-4 that is in
: rebuildable condition. Where are
: you located?

: Darn, darn, darn, just DARN!
:
: I got our prized C4 home from the
: junkyard, mounted it on my engine
: stand, plugged all the open holes,
: soaked it in oven cleaner, power
: washed the heck out of it (getting
: myself very wet and dirty in the
: process) and was just so happy. I
: then went to remove the rear mount
: (which was attached when we bought
: the tranny) and, uh-oh, one of the
: ears spun in my hand. Removing the
: mount I found that not only was one
: mounting ear broken off, but there
: was a gaping hole that allowed me to
: inspect some of the transmissions
: innards.
:
: So, it's back to the junkyard for me
: to pick up another transmission. I
: think the moon is full now - that
: must be it!
