Hey,
If you take any pictures of your progress as you go along would love to see them. falconebayer@yahoo.com
Do you know how much more horsepower a 200 should have? No problem with rear end right? I'm fortunate that even though I have the little 144 I have the better rear end that cruises nice on a highway. I drove to Miami Beach today and have no problem on the fast highways here in Florida. Wish I saw more Falcons on the road.
Good Luck with the swap

: Hey everyone. We had a good weekend
: junkyarding and I thought I'd share.
: As some of you know, we plan to
: replace our 170/FM2 with a 200/C4.
:
: Yesterday (Sunday) we went to the
: junkyard to pull the C4 out of a '65
: Falcon that I'd found the previous
: week. It turned out to be a later
: model C5 that someone had just
: "rigged" into the car. It
: had no rear mount, and the tailshaft
: was just sitting on the original
: crossmember! Bummer. The yard owner
: said he had an identical
: transmission already removed that
: was much cleaner. He was right - it
: had a new torque converter and a new
: front pump, and appears to be
: recently rebuilt. So, I'll need to
: fabricate a rear mount, but I have
: high hopes the tranny can be used
: without the cost of a rebuild and a
: new converter.
:
: Today, my friend Brandon calls to
: tell me he found me a rebuildable
: 200 for $50. It's in a '68 Mustang
: (we assume it's original to the car)
: and is complete except for the carb,
: starter, alternator, etc. It's close
: to home too. It has 5 freeze plugs,
: so I guess all we have to do now is
: make sure it's not a 250.
:
: So far (fingers crossed) it was a
: productive weekend.
:
: Jim
:
: PS - Amelia promises to update her
: website with pics of the Falcon at
: some cruise-ins this past summer, so
: check back from time to time.
