In an earlier post, I asked about the best donor vehicles for a C4 to be used to replace the FM2 in a '63 Falcon. JB Long said:
"Jim, a C4 from a '64-65 Comet or a '65 Falcon 170 is the only one that will fit your existing mount. You can use a later C4 from a 170 or 200 (through 1980 or so) but you'll need a different mount arrangement. Some of the Falcon vendors sell a mount kit, and it includes the mounting for the parking brake."
OK, I think we found a 65 Falcon in the junkyard (there are a lot of body parts missing, including the drivers door and the VIN tag) but the car is a 6 cyl (don't know the CID), the tranny is a C4, and (I think this is the important part) the car has an identical hand brake setup as a '63. Without being able to compare the undercar handbrake cantilevers side-by-side, they certainly do look similar. Of course, I forgot my camera so I couldn't take a picture.
Have I found the correct transmission, or have I provided enough info to be sure? If so, any idea if the '65 driveshaft will be the correct length?
Thanks,
Jim
