I wouldn't think that the weight of the fan would make a lot of difference in engine loading. I think that the number of blades and the pitch of the blades would determine loading. The five blade fan that you installed would move about 25% more air than the four blade unit, maybe more if the blades are a more efficient design.
I've had a similar experience with my Falcon getting hot in the summer. Seems like once it gets hot, it doesn't want to cool down unless I start driving at highway speeds. The flex fan or electric fan would probably be the best choice because the flex fan moves more air at low rpm and less at high rpm, and the electric fan only runs when it's needed.
