Installing an Alternator on 1962 Falcon Wagon

I've seen people talk about changing out the generator on their Falcon with an alternator. The general concenses seems to be a one-wire alternator. I purchased an alternator mounting bracket from Auto Krafters last summer, but now I'm wondering what kind of alternator should be used to make the swap. Will the GM types work, or do you need to get an alternator made especially for Ford products? Thanks
