: I don't know if 18" is too large,
: but there is another thing that you
: might want to consider. My 1971
: Javelin came with a flex fan on its
: engine. It is very noisy, because
: the blades create a lot of
: turbulence. I found out that
: Flex-A-Lite makes a fan clutch which
: adjusts its operation for
: temperature. There is a small
: thermostatic coil on the front that
: senses the temperature of the air
: coming against it. As the
: temperature coil senses changes in
: temperature, it turns a valve that
: makes the clutch slip more or less.
: When the engine is cold, the clutch
: slips a lot and allows the engine to
: warm up fast. When the air coming
: through it gets hot, it causes the
: clutch to slip less and the fan
: pulls more air through the radiator.
: I put one of these on my wife's '73
: Buick about 10 years ago and I've
: been very satisfied with it. You
: will need to purchase the clutch and
: also a fan blade to go with it.
