I converted my old generator/external regulator to a one wire alternator w/internal regulator on my 1960 Ranchero. It was an easy swap--I had to make a spacer and fabricate a bracket, but it was pretty simple. There is one wire from the back of the alternator to the positive pole of the battery--that's it. It works great, and my car runs cooler by losing all of the drag from the old generator. Go on E-bay and look for one wire alternator. The one I bought was chrommed. That added 20 HP right there...Good luck.
