At 35 mph the engine died on my 1960 Ranchero (1966 200 six) yesterday. I coasted to the side of the road, popped the hood, everything looks normal. Get in the car, crank it, not a pop. Then I noticed the white smoke curling up from under the steering column. The switch itself was cool, and the smoking stopped when I turned the key to off (or acc.) No time to look at it last night, diving in tonight. I am assuming the wire from the switch to the coil shorted out under the dash, or the coil shorted out and it's sucking juice and melting the supply wire. In case someone has an insight in the next few hours I thought I'd throw this out there. Thanks in advance.
