Bob, any year 170 and any 200 through 1979 or so will bolt up to your bellhousing and converter. The last few years of the 200 - 1980 to 1983 - had a different bellhousing pattern and won't work. JL
: Hi, All
:
: I have a 1962 Falcon station wagon
: which has high mileage and the
: engine is in need of an overhaul. I
: like the economy of the 170 six that
: is in it now. However, it would be
: nice to have a later model 170
: engine that has hydraulic lifters,
: rather than the solid lifters in the
: 62's motor. This car has the
: two-speed Fordomatic transmission in
: it. Will a later model engine drop
: in and bolt up to the bell housing
: and torque converter in the '62, or
: would this upgrade be more involved?
: Since this is a daily driver,
: expense is somewhat of an issue.
:
: Thanks in advance.
