64 falcon wheel size

i have a 64 falcon with a maverick rear, and granada brakes up front.
i am trying to see what backspace fits me best.i want a 8 inch wheel and with 4.75 back in rear i have lots of room left in the inside, but up front the wheel might touch the upper control arm.is that common?i cant find much on falcon wheel sizes but lots for mustangs.
i was thinking of going with 17's as long as they dont look to big, if anyon has pics that would be great.the style of wheel i think i like is the American Racing Hopster.
