OK, so I gave up on the generator after getting two rebuilt and buying two new voltage regulators. I just bought a 1-wire GM-style alternator. I mounted it in the same location at the generator (just needed to move the bracket forward an inch and weld an extension on to the tensioning bracket.) I attached a new #10 wire from the post on the alternator to the + post on the solenoid, fired her up and--nothing. My amp gauge shows discharge when I turn on the lights, but it isn't charging. Here are my questions: Is it possible that this alternator is supposed to spin in the other direction from my 200-six? Is there anything I was supposed to do with the old wires from the generator? I taped up the ends and zip-tied them in place. I'm ready to fill the bed with batteries and call it the original Prius. Any suggestions?
