Here is the easiest way I found. Buy a 3G alternator with the built in regulator. The one I used is from early nineties tarus, thunderbird, crown vic etc. They have the same clocking (configuration) as the early alternators. You have three wires to deal with. Two wires go to the starter solenoid, one feeds back to the light on the dash. I found the harness on Ebay. You can find them in the junk yard or at a parts store. You can get the alternator with a vpulley or serpentine pulley. I can send you a photo if you like but mine is on a 64 v8 car which is no big deal.
