The 250 has 4 bolts on the waterpump instead of 3 and also uses the low mount starter, which is the easiest way to tell. Just compare your starter location on your 144. The 250 will require some mods when installing into your Falcon, especially since yours is an early round body. Issues are radiator clearance, floor pan clearance due to larger bell housing, transmission mount modification. It can be done but does require some technical expertise.
