I don't have a lot of info, but Mahala was raised by Turner Branham. Turner said he found he on an indian reservation and John was very taken by her. So Turner raised her till she was old enough to marry. Mahala told her family that her father was William "BLACK hAWK" Mosley. It has been suggested by family that Mahala AND Nathaniel Fair Mosley were brother and sister. William Mosley was in Ky on the 1840 census of Floyd county. A great neice of Mahala Branham, (Only know her as Mim from Pound Virginia), said that William was buried on Flat Woods mountain near the pound. William did give a statement of oath for Revolutionary John Moore's request for his military pention.
John Moore's daughter Mary Polly Moore married Nathaniel F. Mosley and it is told that she was Cherokee. Hope this has been helpful. Martha
