I read a narrative about Mantle Rock that referenced James Hughes of Carrsville. He told that he lived in a house formerly owned by Mark Twain's brother. I would like to know where that home is located and correspond with the Hughes family if possible. I believe that the home belonged to Gershom Clemens, Samuel Clemens brother, but it would have been Mark Twain/Samuel Clemens great uncle, not his brother. Gershom Clemens once lived on and owned "Rondeau Island" between Carrsville and Golconda. He married Margaret Gillespie Trimble and his first child by Margaret was named James Ford Clemens. Gershom is my gggggg-grandfather, father to Elizabeth Clemens (her mother was Jane Usher) who married James King in Livingston Co. in 1811.
