: in
: Middlesboro that has a Christian
: School called Gateway Christian

: able to help or know of this school.
: The Church's phone # is 606-248-1678

: I am still searching for a photograph
: of
: the Binghamtown School(grades 1-4)
: located on the lower end of the North
: Belt Line in Middlesboro, Kentucky.
: I've posted this once before.
:
: Any information that would help me
: locate a photo of the school would be
: appreciated.
:
: Thanks, Izetta. I grew up in
: Middlesboro. Our mother attended
: Binghamtown School the first year it
: opened in the l920's. Four out of
: five of us children attended there in
: the l940's and 50's. Our uncle owned
: the building in later years, but the
: property was sold out of the family.
: The building was last being used as
: some sort of shop.
:
: What I am really after is a photo of
: the school as it was when it was in
: operation. I've even tried through
: the school system and the museum, but
: no response. I even tried the Daily
: News in Middlesboro. I know someone,
: somewhere has to have a photograph of
: the school, but thus far no response.
:
: Thanks for your suggestion, though.

: Hi Allene, I had a copy of the
: Middlesboro Daily News from 1991 that
: had a picture of my grade school in
: it. I wanted to get the original
: packet from the paper and emailed the
: editor there. She forwarded my email
: to Mike Willard who is in charge of
: the archived issues I suppose. I
: emailed him at
: mwillard@heritagemicrofilm.com and he
: again contacted the paper and they're
: telling me now that they don't have
: the personnel to research my request
: but I would be more than welcome to
: come in and go thru their archives
: myself. Also they said I could
: research the library archives there in
: Middlesboro at newspaperarchive.com or
: I could subscribe to it at
: http://newspaperarchive.com . Maybe
: this can help in your search. Good
: luck, Izetta
Wow, this is a thought. I so appreciate you sharing this information. I had begun to think that I might as well give up. I just know someone, somewhere has to have old photos of Binghamtown, but I guess they are not surfing the internet to see my request.
I haven't been back to Middlesboro since we buried our brother there in February, 1999. We rarely get an opportunity to come back so far from where we are in South Central Texas. It is a LONG drive and too expensive to fly!
Thanks, again!
