Claire, I use the maps that are avaible at http//ukec.edu/~maps/ They have 1950 maps that are 1930 & 40 maps with minor updates. they can be downloaded and printed. I travel and take pictures of Quilt patterns on barns & other structures. I have most of them in Menifee Co. They have communities that are now just wide spots in the road. You can buy the new one at wal-mart It is called the Kentucky Gezette but they are new maps. Hope this helps.

: Hello to all. I am interested in finding
: a copy of an old soft-cover book that
: features a separate map of each
: Kentucky county. Its maps are quite
: detailed, showing all the various
: hollers, church and family cemeteries,
: creeks, branches, railroads, etc. A
: fascinating reference but I believe it
: may no longer be in retail
: circulation. It was published by a
: company in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin.
: The only copy I have seen is nearly
: too old and delicate to handle for
: fear of destroying it, but is so
: intriguing that I must find another
: copy that, perhaps, isn't quite as
: ancient or has been better preserved
: than this one. I sure would be obliged
: to anyone who might know where I might
: find a copy of this Kentucky Counties
: Map Book. My parents' families are
: from Menifee County, and I was even
: able to locate "Ponder
: Branch" where my father used to
: live. Thanks very much for any help
: with my endeavor! Claire Brown, now a
: Louisville resident. :o)
