He was interviewed on telly, shortly before he came back from his injury. He was asked which player that played in his position he most admired. Bolasie said it was Eden Hazard and explained, very eloquently, that it was due to Hazard’s patience and intelligence, in the way he waited to find the right pockets of space and how he used that space effectively. He’d obviously studied Hazard carefully and his intelligent appraisal gave me hope that when he came back, Bolasie would apply some of that to his own game, rather than being a headless chicken, running down blind alleys and flattering to deceive; the black Peter Beattie, if you like. Sadly, this ain’t happened. He’s undoubtedly got talent and I would love to see Silva get the best out of him, but I won’t hold my breath. He may well go down as the first of many Koeman / Walsh expensive follies.|
