If you sell your car for £2k does that then mean you need to register for self assessment? Or do you have to keep accounts for sales to ensure that it includes what the acquisition cost was? In this case I bought it for £5k, sold for £2k so actually I've made a loss and can I then account for that in my tax calculation? Along with expenses such as accounting software, time, accountancy fees. Or is this actually just an exercise to get some rich tories to donate more?
