I think you're conflating contract of employment with right to practice as a nurse.
Take Gylfi or Adrian Mutu as examples; their contracts were cancelled/they were sacked but someone else could still employ them as footballers.
Similarly, assuming hypothetically Letby was released for some crazy reason, she could have in theory still been employed by someone else as a nurse as she remained on the register.
She's will now be removed from the register and Letby cannot now practice as a nurse ever again.
