My lad started reffing last year aged 15 - he refs U12 & U13, probably done about 15/16 matches and in that time I've had to have words with the parent spectators 3 or 4 times and also pull a parent off the pitch who was heading towards him! It's kids football ffs and I'm having to act as security! Even a coach last week got too vociferous with him, but fair dos he apologised at the end of the match so he didn't get a blow to the head from my linesman flag!
