The site is open permenantly, the only exception being large scale outdoor events in the eastern fan plaza.

There will be a raised riverside walk adjacent to the media building at the west of the site. So even if the east fan plaza is closed off to the public you will still be able to walk right the way up the docks to the very north of the site, walk around the canal/western waterway bit and back down at all times. This was insisted on by all parties and the club happy to agree it.

During specific outdoor events (say they do a Summer Pops or a ‘Ten Streets Festival’ in the outdoor fans plaza, the dock wall entrances can be closed down, so such an event can be ticketed….and so can the ground from the west plaza (there’s a covered walkway with terracing steps leading up to the west stand and large gates can be rolled out to block off entrance from the west.

Most days the club want people down there, the city want people down there and the heritage bodies want people down there. My understanding is Bramley Moore Dock was a major transporter of immigrants to the USA and there’s plans for all kinds of tourism ops down there. There will also be a major club store, restaurants on the east stand will be open to the public and of course the hydro tower is to be a cafe/museum.

Finally: I saw plans for a perforated steel wall that would run along the north of the site blocking off the view of the United Utilities site. This would be similar to the surround around Goodison with a history of not just Everton but of the docks and the BMD site.

I don’t know if that latter idea is going ahead as the gates don’t look anything like the ones I saw in renders.

If you walk down princes dock and look at the perforated black steel wall that wraps the car park you’ll have an idea (but instead of the image they have there picture iconic stuff like Dixie running out with the ball and the holy trinity, etc).
