My memory might be playing tricks, but FFP was originally about debt, wasn't it? An idea that actually made sense as clubs were going into administration "living the dream".
Then City's dominance began (and United became a club loaded with leveraged debt), and they changed the rules to protect the top six rather than clubs' finances.
