The actual holiday turned out fine but getting there was a nightmare. We flew from Barcelona to Madrid and then boarded an Iberia flight to Puerto Rico.We were on the tarmac for about 2 hours when we were told there was a technical fault and we had to get off.It was a Jumbo so over 400 on board and everybody was given a voucher for the same restaurant. After another couple of hours we were able to take off and start our journey. As we approached Puerto Rico we were told that the plane was not going to land in Puerto Rico as the crew would be over their hours and would not be able to continue the flight to the Dominican Republic. On arriving in the DR we had to get off the plane and join a queue with the passengers who were boarding the plane to return to Madrid via Puerto Rico. Anyway the plane was full fairly quickly and there was no room for us on the plane. They said that they would have to put us up in a hotel about 50kms from the Airport and fly back to Puerto Rico in the morning to catch our cruise around the Caribbean.About 40 people were in the same position as we were going on a cruise. The company reps didnīt speak English,a lot of the other passengers were Scandinavian who spoke good English but not Spanish,so I finished up as our go between. When we all turned up back at the airport the following morning they couldnīt get us back to Puerto Rico so we all missed our cruise. They then had to fly us on to the next port where we were able to board the ship.
