This was a good thread. The goal is for us to do really great services and work smart, not hard. When I was in the salon it was 5 days from 9 ish to 7 ish or later. I really didn't want to do more than 5 facials, 4 is better with waxing and sales to fill in blanks. I did work all alone which means I greeted, checked in, checked out, cleaned and did laundry myself. But I did love working alone, this meant everything was always done according to my standards.
But in your early 50's and slowing down?????
I'm 53: this year I ran 12 half marathons, did the Avon-Walk-a-thon, and started going international for business.
This is my idea of slowing down! I fully expect to be doing this when I am 80, only flying first class!
ho ho ho y'all. I wish you a fun, safe, profitable and healthy 2009. In the face of this economy you had best get good at business and get there quickly.
Many people got into the spa business in the last 10 years and stayed alive because of the economy and never got their business under control. That is no longer a luxury. If you are not great at re-booking and selling, then it is time to think about what you want to do for your next career. Harsh but true! Clients will continue to buy products if you have married them and they will either cut out or stretch out services. So if you truly love what you do and know you need assistance or help with business or growth then it is time to seek out a mentor or a company that will help you with this so you can continue to be part of our wonderful industry!
Much Love!
