Posted by Stewart Troy Mauck on 7/8/2004, 6:01 am, in reply to "Hi Stewart:)" Remaining silent, especially when new-found 'old' friends and acquaintances are presumably so close at hand, is a terrible way to let time unfold. Not knowing what impression I might have left in my wake at ERHS, I went fishing. Much to my happy surprise, I caught you, but apparantly not before someone else had reeled you in. I hope this finds you doing well, and may you forgive my fisherman's tale. However, I had no idea what to say then, especially on a web board open for the world to see. How very impersonal. I really do wish to hear from those I once knew in what almost seems like a life long past, yet still measureable in mere days. This place is bloody lonely for a Yankee out of place, and possibly time. I hope those who were able to attend the reunion enjoyed themselves, though I do wonder if the silence here really should be so deafening. Is that Monica I see in the picture on the front page, across from Shayna? My, so very many of you are now married...

I saw your message shortly after you originally posted it here, and immediately froze. I held off my response in the hopes of having something truly positive to say of myself and this foreign land of Alabama. To date, my experiences are becoming the basis of a book, with aspirations to rattle the state at large. I refuse to go native; my inability to understand the local language makes this an easy decision.
