Posted by Stewart Troy Mauck on 2/12/2004, 12:35 am, in reply to "May I join this party?" I went from a close crop haircut to what would eventually become a full ponytail all the way down my back. Sadly, Rebecca, I did have to break my promise to never cut it. You would have been proud of the monster you helped to create, though. There is nothing quite like a dude in a marching band uniform sporting a full French braid. I still have mementos from Class Night and James Green's run for Class Treasurer squirrelled away, as well as that brown suede jacket of which I was so very proud. Some BH&NS copies are also just out of reach. I understand that the fake how-too posters I hung up in a health class were still there years later. To one very special person, I owe my deepest apologies for a miserable attempt at a love letter. In retrospect, I am sure it screamed 'stalker' though that was furthest from my intentions. I thoroughly destroyed a friendship (several, I believe) that I prized.

I tended to go by my middle name, Troy, where possible. The Beltsville crowd (Monica, Mandi, Grant, Jodi et al.) and those unfortunate enough to be within striking range might remember me best for the all-too inconvenient trombone case that I schlepped back and forth. Or that I had a tendency to catch the bus from a later stop on the route, gaining me that all-important extra ten minutes of prep time (Hi, John and Ryan). I always had at least two packs of playing cards on hand, all set for the very violent games ERHS students seemed to favor. These tended to still be in full swing as the bus rolled to a stop to let me off...
