Posted by Barbara Nightingale To confirm that this is the correct family, I would suggest ordering a copy of the birth certificate for Selina Entwistle, which was registered in Blackburn registration district (which covers Church) in the March quarter of 1882, volume 8e, page 455. I can’t find a baptism for her, but you will recall she was living with the widowed Jane Entwistle at 3 Maden Fold in 1901 – described as a boarder, but it’s quite possible that she was Jane’s sister-in-law. LATER ….. after a little more searching I’ve finally found this family in 1891, living in Livesey, near Blackburn; and they have a 9-year-old daughter named Selina. It appears that Holden died towards the end of 1891 and Margaret early in 1892. I think that’s all the help I can give you at this stage. However, if you were to join the Entwistle Family History Association, and don’t live within easy travelling distance of this part of Lancashire, I would be able to do more for you. It only costs £8 per year (if you live in the UK) and you can fill in a membership form on our website. Please let me know how you get on.

I’ve done a bit more delving in my records and have found the baptism of a Thomas Entwistle at Church Kirk (in Church, near Accrington) on 22 November 1871. His parents are Holden and Margaret Entwistle, and Holden is a weaver. There are also baptisms of several other children born to them.
