Well, hopefully all some aspects of our most dynamic healing/recovery modalities are evolving into less rigid systems. I had such a profound experience when I first went to AlAnon in the late 1970s, but did fall away, probably out of a need to grow, expand and not go into fundmentalist thought in order to function. Yeah, I made a lot of mistakes and have had some compulsions and addictions. But there's also a fluidity to my path and a lot of creativity and learning about free choice. As far as spiritual growth goes, I think I took a path that would allow a lot of that, rather than the insulated security of a total 12-Step driven life.
