Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I don't advocate medicine except if there is no other way to stop an out of control addiction or behavior. I think mediation, yoga, etc are just fine.
What I mean by a core issue is that your depression is link to something deeper. I would guess it goes back to childhood and a lack of love, reassurance, safety, or whathaveyou from one or both parents.
For example, my homosexual drive was directly related to my father not mentoring, bonding, or being there at all for me. I was raised only by my mother for all intense purposes.
