OK, that makes sense. Well I have a lot of tendencies and some off and on compulsions, but probably the only thing truly "clinical" as far as diagnosis would be depression. At least that's where I'd start in telling my story to a therapist or psychiatrist.
: By secular, I mean non-spiritual or
: non-religious. I mean a non-other
: worldly remedy. This would be akin
: to seeking typical western
: psychatric therapy. I just don't
: know where you need to look.
:
: For me, all my woes and worries were
: tied up in my unwanted homosexual
: drives. Now there are two more
: issues I plan to deal with in the
: near future. One is smoking, and
: the other is eating for comfort. I
: can try to sit and meditate for the
: reason, but I will search the
: internet far and wide because some
: doctor, somewhere has identified
: overeating as a phsycological
: disorder. And if so, perhaps that
: doctor has found the root of it. I
: would suspect it comes from
: childhood.
:
: Eating makes me feel at peace like I
: was when I was a kid. Our household
: was often scary at times, and I do
: associate food with safety, love,
: and comfort.
:
: If anyone can recomend a book or
: website regarding eating, please let
: me know.

: Vince.
