I know the question was directed to you, hope you don't mind my comments...
Humans do not have to ultimately become emotionally mute or passionless in their quest for sprituality! Quite the opposite the ultimate goal with the work besides higher consciousness is to regain our exuberance and spontaniety!
I've joined a couple of groups where I look at people's eye's and wonder if anyone's home. Or is this an American thing? I've met so many delightful Italians and French who are larger than life with their emotions. And they are lovely, highly spiritual beings. Americans as a rule seem threatened by emotions, don't you find? ######
The French & Italians you were seeing probably had a few glasses of their favorite wine !
