A different kind of drill

I've done fire drills before but never a Shelter-in-place drill. We got e-mails ahead of time about a drill scenario which will simulate a dirty bomb explosion that threatens the HQ Complex. The drill started at 2:00pm today and we were warned over our computer systems and then over the PA system to get out survival kits and proceed to the designated areas. My designated area was on the third floor, towards the interior of the building, (2nd thru 6th wings). We had to trudge up 3 flights of stairs and wait in the corridors for 30 minutes before being allowed to go back to our offices. I still don't think this will really protect. By the way, I work in a Government bldg downtown in D.C. Not too far from the capitol.
