Long-term use of aspirin (even baby aspirin) can damage the stomach. Be sure to check with a doctor before taking it. Also, it cannot be taken for a certain period of time (sometimes a week) before surgery or certain procedures due to risk of increased bleeding. My husband's cardiologist recommended a daily baby aspirin (enteric-coated)for him because he is higher risk for heart problems, but now my husband has acid reflux; and we don't know whether the aspirin had anything to do with it or not. Just the same, he needs to keep taking the aspirin, so he's being treated with Prilosec. We are both in our 60's, so age may be a contributing factor.
