Cheryl, your post made me curious so I, too, started poking around the web to see whether I could find any aspirin made in the U.S. You're right, it all seems to be made from imported ingredients. It's sort of fascinating to try to follow the trail because they hide the info. I found an interesting FTC complaint from 2001 alledging that 5 major companies mislabled analgesics as 'made in USA' when they weren't. It names names and manufacturing locations for the products sold at major chain stores like KMart and Target.

You might have already run across this, but here's a fascinating look at Bayer Pharma. It has production facilities all over the world, such as Italy, Belgium, and Canada. Its history contains some very ugly stuff (scroll down to where it says 'controversies'). Nazis? Genetically engineered rice? Seed treatment that kills bees? Poisonings? Ugh.
