Hi, Carrie!! My mother consulted a homeopathic veterinarian before switching to a homemade pet food. He was the one who recommended the raw chicken legs with the bones in them. He said that because of the way dogs and cats digestions work bacterias don't affect them in the same way that they do people. It seems to be true, we've probably been feeding our dogs raw meats for seven or eight years and never once has it made them sick.
Also, a lot of people worry about feeding dogs bones because they think that the bones will cut their stomachs, etc.. but according to the vet as long as you only feed raw bones it's OK because raw bones are soft not splintery so the dog will chew them up instead of breaking off sharp bits.
Hugs and love!!
