Hi Carrie,
A really good article re this issue can be found in the August 25, 2009 issue of WebMd:
webmd.com/breast-cancer/rare-second-breast-cancer risk
The author is Miranda Hill
Dr Li and Dr Victor Vogel describe the risk and benefits of Tamoxifen treatment. It is thought that in the process of "immobilizing" estrogen a recur after 5 yrs + of Tamoxifen... the recur may be ER-. They suggest tx within and not longer than the 5 yrs is wise given the current information re risk/benefit. I cannot find any info that would apply to the aromatase inhibitors. If you come across any Carrie I would appreciate it.
Another interesting research paper:
breast-cancer-research.com/content/7/6/R1153
by Laura Esserman et al 2005
Thanks for the info...now no more hair yanking
This is all like pinning jello on the wall.
All the best to you,
Peg
