After Ryan went off, There were very few options left for midfield. Whelo and Magee aren't available yet, O'Mahoney is suspended i think. Johny Magee is not on panel anymore i think.
Lally often plays midfield for his club so i guess that's why they through him in there. But he's not an inter country midfielder
