Before a ball was kicked in anger in the 2006 championship I said that we needed three things to win an All Ireland and these were;
1. A good manager.
2. An intelligent game plan.
3. A reasonably good free taker.
To date the only one we have succeeded in achieving is a reasonably good free taker in Mark Vaughan.
My prediction therefore for 2008 is that we will again win Leinster. However I don’t expect to beat Kerry at whatever stage we meet them. The squad of players we have in my opinion are capable of winning an All Ireland, but management’s inability to pick the correct team and make the appropriate changes during matches when things are going wrong will again be exposed.
