I was at Parnell Park last night to see Faughs play Lucan Sarsfields in the senior hurling championship. As a contest the game was over at half time. Lucan led 1-10 to 0-2. Both of Faughs points came from frees. The final score was 1-16 to 2-9 in favour of Lucan and the score line flattered Faughs who manage to fumble two late goals. Lucan totally dominated at midfield and should have been further ahead at the break. It was surprising to see John McCaffery given the freedom of the park and the Faughs management not do anything about it. As a team Lucan’s stick work, fitness, and marking were far superior to Faughs.
No disrespect intended but it was good to hear at lot of Dublin accents on the winning Lucan team in contrasts to Faughs.
