Posted by Pat the Verse Any views? ’Time to call a halt’ - Harte Harte made his call after news broke that Armagh ace Kevin Dyas has gone Down Under for a month’s trial with Collingwood in Melbourne. "To me one is too many," said Harte. "That’s my personal opinion. But I’m not in a position to tell people what to do. "The argument is out there that players are going to soccer, players are going to rugby and all the rest. So be it. "The big difference is, we’re not negotiating with the IRFU or the FAI or the IFA to create a platform where it’s easy for this to happen. "We are doing this with these AFL men and it’s time we stopped it."

I've just seen this piece on the Hogan Stand website. Mickey Harte, of course has never hidden his complete distaste for the International rules concept, but his ire has certainly risen since one of his young Tyrone charges is reportedly heading Down Under.
I'd be interested in what people have to say about this subject as it will affect minor players from many counties, including Dublin.
I have to say that after last year's 'Rules' contests I am very much in agreement with Mickey Harte. The less we have to do with Australian Rules Football the better. Given that has been talk of setting up an AFL Academy here with a view to bringing as many young players to Australia as possible, I feel that the AFL people are now being shown in their true colours!![]()

Tyrone football boss Mickey Harte says it’s high time the GAA severed its links with the AFL in order to prevent more young footballers from making the exodus to Australian Rules football.
