Dear Mr O Neill,
I read with interest your comments in todays Irish times regarding dublins Leinster final victory . For a man in such a powerful position your comments were very dissapointing . You seem to have had your Dark blue tinted glasses on last sunday . You fail to notice that the Laois defence were verball intimidating their opponents from the time the game started , at every chance they engaged in pulling & dragging of the opponent & following the first goal Darren Rooney challenged Mark Vaughan late & spun him around . Vaughan reacted by reminding him what the game was about , The Score !! Rooney replied , as can be seen in the photo in todays Irish times by running after him with fist closed & veins popping .
You also fail to mention the incident whereclancy grabbed Shane ryan by the collar & jabbed at least 2 punches into his chin that Bernard Dunne would be proud of . Again Ryan walked away rather than rise to the bait issued .
In the incident near the end of the game Fergal Byron left his goal to start pushing little alan Brogan . He constantly pushed & pulled but got no reactrion until Bonnar reminded Brogan to walk away , after all look at the scoreboard . The Umpires decided that it was bonnar should be booked & not Byron fpor leaving his goal to provoke a fight .
At All times on sunday Dublin responded very well to the tactic of Laois goading , pulling & antagonising them. Many neutrals have commented on this . What would you have preferred ? to respond to this by starting a digging match the way it is resolved in many club matches throughout the country,
As for this been a new thing led by dublin , what about donaghy last year orFlynn , Brolly & Spillane blowing kisses to the hill after scoring ? I won't even begin to consider the antics of Greg Mc Carton of down or the big Tyrone Keeper Mc Connell towerds the Dublin support.
In closing I think you would have been better served to look at the incidents in fulk before commenting & maybe then you would appreciated that this Dublin team is a good example to young kids with their fitness & high octane football . You might have been better to congratulate them rather than be a sore looser & also pore attention on the best display of all on sunday , that of the Carlow minors in the 2nd half on Sunday as they were a breadth of fresh air to watch .
