Hello to all,
I had a kidney transplant back in 1977 and never got to thank the family of the person who gave me this second chance at life. The kidney has worked wonderfully all these many years and I have been able to do things I never would have imagined doing when I was first diagnosed in 1972 at the age of 12.
Back then, you were prohibited from contacting the donor family. I see that many recipients now are fortunate enough to actually meet the families of their donors, which is great-if both parties are open to it.
Has anyone here ever been able to contact their donor's family? How did you do it? Is this a common practice nowdays? Has anyone ever been able to contact the recipient(s)of an organ transplant(s) given by a member of your family?
I just want to say that no matter if you are a living donor or if someone in your family has made an organ donor gift after death, you are all STARS and deserve honor and thanks from those of us who have received the gift of life!
God bless and keep each one of you,
Pam
