I do not watch very much TV, and I especially do not watch many of the talk shows. We had a lot of publicity surrounding Joe's death also. About a year after his death we were called by the Sally Jesse Raphel Show. We were asked if we wanted to meet one of Joe's recipients, and of course we did, so we got everything in line to do the show, and they called us a few days later and told us we would be meeting for the first time on national tv. I pleaded with them that we have a few moments before the show, and they said no way...we want the sensationalism that goes along with the meeting for the first time. We bowed out at that time. Sometimes I wish I had said yes anyway, but I just didn't like the way they were 'using' our families to raise their numbers. I often wonder what they told the recipient about us, and why we didn't agree to the show. I know in my heart it was the right choice, but I still wonder---'what if?' Hugs, Janet
