Posted by Janet It is a wonderful thing to be able to donate a loved one's organs and to be able to give someone else a second chance at life, but it still hurts, because you have lost a part of yourself...no matter how long it is, it will never completely make up for the loss of your son. It has been over 8 years since my son, Joe, died, and it is wonderful that four people had a second chance at life because of him, but I still miss him, and wish he was here. Nothing makes up for the loss of a child! I would say all of the feelings you have are normal, and in time you will know in your heart if you want to meet the recipients, or to leave it anonymous. But either way, you know you have the right to request information on them at any time from the Organ Procurement Organization you dealt with at the time of his death. You can get updates on the recipients whenever you have the need to know.I check on Joe's every now and again, just to make sure all if fine. If you need more information on that, please let me know. I am glad you left a message on the board, and if I can do anything to help you, please let me know, or email me directly if you like. Hugs, Janet
