I think I'd like to contact them...although I'm not entirely sure what my goal is. I guess I'm trying to get a feel for how the candidate selection differs that the local level v. the national level. I'm trying to gauge what MELD score my father will likely need to have in order to be in serious consideration for a local OPO donation. I've spent a fair bit of time understanding the current UNOS program for liver candidate scoring...but I still don't really understand the nitty gritty aspects of the process. I'm sure that my knowing this won't make things happen any faster...it just would be helpful for me to know what to expect. Anyhow - if you have a contact name for someone at U of M...that'd be great.
